BOOTHAM won the York Amateur Bowling Association triples final at the Retreat to round off the competitive season.

The Bootham rink of Denis Dawson, Bob Procter and skip Mick Head beat the Rowntree rink of Ron Fisher, Bernard Drury and skip David Harrison.

Rowntree got off to a flying start and led until the ninth end of the 18-end match.

Bootham drew level at 9-9 on the tenth end and were never behind after that, eventually winning 16-12.

The trophies were presented by life member Doug Petty.

The final game of the season is the Champions versus The Executive select team at Wigginton on September 9, when the league winners will be presented with their trophies.

THE Super 7 Bowls competition has reached the knockout stages.

Railway Locos dominated group one with 22 points out of a possible 24, earning them a home qualifying semi-final against the winners of an elimination semi between Poppies and 7 Deadly Sinners.

Holgate Clubbers, winners in 2012 and 2013, qualifying from group two thanks to an 8-0 win at Hull Road Rangers.

In the elimination semi-finals, Clubbers will at home to Top Cops from Copmanthorpe, who were runners-up in group one. The winners will play Haxby Road Rockets in a qualifying semi-final.

YORK & District Indoor Bowls Club just missed out on qualifying for the Yorkshire Summer League play-offs by one point when Featherstone 'B' claimed six points from a walkover in their game against Scarborough.

It proved crucial for York as Featherstone were the team to qualify.

The finals are due to take place at Thanet Road on Saturday, starting at 10.30am, featuring Featherstone 'A' and 'B', Harrogate and Doncaster Blue.

An open day will be held at Thanet Road on Sunday between 10am and 2pm for anyone interested in playing bowls. Equipment will be available and free coaching provided.

York & District IBC's annual general meeting is to be held tonight at 7pm.
