WIGGINTON Bowls Club's annual two-wood pairs and strawberry tea competition for the Kilgour Trophy was won by Doreen Kilgour and Barrie Shipley.

The pair beat captain Michael Wadsworth and Ken Magson in the six-end final and the trophy was presented by president Michael Haseltine, Wadsworth and chairman Jean Millar.

Two Wigginton teams are through to the semi-finals of the YABA Veterans' Maddison Cup after both teams won at Dunnington.

Colin Ellis' 'A' side beat Dunnington 'A' 17-12, while Dave Imeson's 'B' team had a 22-7 victory over Dunnington 'C'.

The semi-finals will take place on Thursday, July 10, at Railway Institute at 2pm. The 'A' will play Dunnington 'B' and the 'B' ranks face Dringhouses 'A'.

In the Ryedale Veterans League, both Wigginton teams had good wins with eight-point hauls, the 'A' team securing an impressive single shot victory at Helmsley with winning rinks from skips Bill Tomlinson (18-16), Tony Baker (14-13) and captain Wadsworth (17-11), while the 'B' team had a 80-55 win at home to Easingwold 'B' with winning rinks from skips David Moorhouse (25-17), Bob Barratt (24-6) and captain Gary Stockton (19-10).

Wigginton moved to fifth in the BataGas Triples League after a 79-57 home victory and seven points against Settrington, with two winning rinks from skips Dave Imeson (29-13) and Moorhouse (19-13) and drawn rinks from Jane and Gary Stockton.

They also had a 65-63 win at Kirkbymoorside, despite losing two rinks as skip Imeson drew 19-19 and Jane Stockton won 18-10.

There was a six-point home win for the Private Clubs League 'A' team, beating Dunnington 60-47 with winning rinks from Jane and Gary Stockton, 18-15 and 23-12 respectively.
