Dave Thomas wins Stokesley Duathlon

YORK Triathlon Club’s Dave Thomas continued his early season form with a win at the Stokesley Duathlon.

Despite coming off his bike during that stage, Thomas still managed to record some excellent race splits over the scenic five kilometre run, 31.4km bike stage and 5km run course.

Jess Bacon had a great start to her season in the female category finishing second overall. In the shorter distance race, club success came from females Fiona Beard, who finished second overall and Andrea Lancaster, who was just a place behind.

Elsewhere, a few club members headed over to Oulton Park for a World duathlon qualifying event around the race circuit.

The multi-lap 8.6km run, 38.8km bike, 4.3km run saw a large line up of athletes all competing for the four qualifying slots available in each age category at this race.

Rachel Lightfoot had a great start to her season securing a second position in the 40 to 44 age category, while Mark Lawrence had a great race finishing tenth in the competitive 30 to 34 age category.
