Yared Hagos wins Thirsk 10 Road race

The Thirsk 10 Road race, organised by Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers, attracted 532 runners, who were led home by Wallsend Harrier Yared Hagos in 49 minutes and 40 seconds.

Second was Andrew Wiles, of New Marske Harriers, in 51-22 and third Paul Marchant, of Rothwell and District Harriers, in 54-11.

The ladies’ race was won by Claire Simpson (Jarrow and Hebburn), 36th overall in 61-10, with Amy Green (Keighley and Craven) second in 65th in 63-30 and Lisa Mawer (Wetherby Runners) third in 71st in 63-59.

The Blakey Blitz fell race on the same morning tempted three runners away from Thirsk, with Noel Clough finishing 15th in 97-40, Pete Wilkin 53rd in 112-33 and Hester Cox 54th in 112-40.
