Shot put ace raises standard again

RISING City of York Athletics Club shot put ace Scott Lincoln is a top ten hit.

The 18-year-old launched a personal best effort of 17.67 metres to win the Winter Throws Challenge in Loughborough yesterday.

Lincoln, who was throwing against senior athletes, is now ranked tenth in the all-time UK shot put list at under-20s level.

Coach Paul Wilson said: “He is getting closer to the standard for the World Junior Championships now.”

The qualification mark for the Worlds in Barcelona in the summer is 19 metres, although Lincoln could book his place by adding the outdoor UK under-20s title to the indoor crown he won recently.
