KNAVESMIRE Harriers Ladies team won the 13th annual Selby Relays for the 11th time in the race history.

Fiona Strange ran the first of the 2.8 miles-legs in 17 minutes and 28 seconds to put the team in second place, 24 seconds adrift of City of Sheffield.

Aislinn Austin ran a good second leg (17-59) to take Knavesmire into the lead for Zoe Peak to run the anchor leg in 18-19 to bring the team home in first place with an overall time of 46 minutes and 26 seconds over four minutes in front of City of Sheffield, who finished in 57 mins and 34 secs.

There was a close-run battle between Knavesmire's Veterans and A' team with just ten seconds separating them at the end.

Darren Hendley ran first for the A' team (15mins 16secs), and Bill Shiveley for the Veterans (15-34). The second leg runners were David Eiser (A' team15-53) and Andy Booth (Veterans 16-23) Richard Lowson ran the last leg for the A' team in 15-07 to finish third overall in 46 mins and 16 secs.

Veterans captain Neil Strange ran a fast last leg in 14 mins and 26 secs which meant his side triumphed in their category and finished in fourth place overall in 46 mins and 26 secs.

Doncaster were winners in 43 mins and 23 secs. Knavesmire Ladies B' team were 19th (59.51), Knavesmire Ladies D' 22nd (68.49) and Knavesmire Ladies C' 24th 90.14).
