THIRSK and Sowerby Harriers runners Rob and Christine Burn shone at the Yorkshire Veterans Cross Country Championships at Nunroyd Park in Guiseley. Christine finished fourth in the F60 section of the women’s race over five kilometres and Rob was third in the M60 over the men’s 10k course.

A trio of members took part in the scenic Snape 10k, with Ian Codling finishing 92nd in 65 minutes 23 seconds, Gary Holmes was 95th in 68-10 and Marian Codling was 98th in 77-20.

The first Harriers finisher at the Yorkshire 10k at Newby Hall was Charlotte Wilton, who came home 41st in 46-16, with Andrea Almack 163rd in 60-18, Ian Codling 211th in 65-33, Gary Holmes 222nd in 67-59, Marian Codling 254th in 80-40 and Liz Stephenson 261st in 86-50.

The Summer Series of Fell Races has ended with Alan Wikeley claiming second place overall in the M70 category, Fran Jeffery fourth in the open ladies section, Hilary Coventry first F50, Lorraine Hiles second F50 and Pat Kirby second F60. The ladies were second in the team section.

Meanwhile, John Yates finished 23rd in the eight-mile Nutrilite in Jakarta, clocking 52-27.
