YORKSHIRE-BASED Tom Bosworth overcame injury to book his place in the Great Britain team for the European Athletics Championships at the British Grand Prix of Race Walking in York.

Bosworth, who trains in Leeds, was hampered by his injury but managed to finish fifth in the 20 kilometre race to seal a spot for the Zurich championships in August.

The race at the University of York's cycle track at York Sport Village was won by Australia's Dave Bird-Smith, with New Zealander Quentin Rew second and Ireland's Luke Hickey third.

Heather Lewis won the women's 20k race, ahead of Alana Barber.

The men's junior 10k title went to Emma Achurch, ahead of Jasmine Nicholls, while the men's event was won by Cameron Corbishley, with Callum Wilkinson second.
