FROM a field of almost 10,000 runners, Thirsk & Sowerby Harrier Steve Middleton was the first club finisher in the Leeds Abbey Dash 10k.
Middleton finished in 297th place, after clocking 35 minutes and 31 seconds.
Dan Holdsworth was 305th in 35.37, Rob Lickley 1179th in a personal best 42.03, and David Fabrega, in his first outing for the club, was 1,687th in 45.28. Sarah Burn came home in 48.23, beating her previous best by 40 seconds.
In the latest North Yorkshire/South Durham cross country fixture at Filey, Stephan Tomaszewski was 18th out of the 63 male entrants in 40.40 with Rob Burn 29th in 42.23. In the ladies’ race, Christine Burn was 37th in 28.11.
