A NET of only two fish was enough to land Jack Bryan second place in the over-70s section of the York & District Amalgamation of Anglers veterans’ match at Laybourne Lakes.

Drawn at peg 49 on Marley Pool, Bryan caught an 8lb 10oz fish and he added a 13lb 4oz specimen on the whistle to put 21lb 14oz on the scales.

He was pipped to first place by Frank Harvey, who had 23lb 5oz at peg three, while G Todd was third from peg 45 with 17lb 4oz.

The under-70s section was won by Vic Rookes, drawn at peg 47, with a haul of 39lb 2oz.

Kev Keane was second with 35lb 0oz at peg 43, while P Rookes was third with 32lb 8oz from peg 34.

The match attracted 22 anglers.

Meanwhile, an item of fishing tackle was found on peg 38 of Marley Pool at Laybourne Lakes.

The owner can reclaim it by contacting Jeff Marley, whose number is in the York & District Amalgamation of Anglers year-book.
