KEITH SCHOFIELD topped the under-70s field at the York & District Amalgamation of Anglers Veterans’ late summer match at Laybourne Lakes.

Schofield bagged a haul of 79lbs 14oz from peg 46 on Marley Pool, winning his section by a clear 14lbs.

Pete Lowson was the over-70s winner from peg 50 with 51lbs.

The Amalgamation’s junior match, twice cancelled due to flooding, will now be fished on Saturday, September 15 on the River Ouse at New Walk.

The draw will be at 9.30am, with fishing from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

Meanwhile, Matt Crowl’s impressive net of 101lbs 14oz earned him victory in the latest Shepherd Angling Club match at Laybourne Lakes’ Marley’s Pool.

Crowl landed carp to 6lb caught on worm from a peg at the end of the island.

Second, also from the end of the island, was Pete Dawson with a catch of 71lb 12oz caught on meat.

Pete Mills took third place with a weight of 59lb 2oz, made up of carp and skimmers caught on meat and corn.

Most of the remaining anglers weighed in between 20lb and 30lb.
