Angling: Eddie Preston shines with carp haul

JT Rogers angler Eddie Preston won the final match in the Raker Lakes Winter League.

From peg 30, Preston took a haul of 80lb 4oz of carp, using bread punch and fishing to the far shelf in just 12 inches of water.

Second was Paul Kozyra (York Joinery) using the same method from peg 27 but fishing 18 inches deep again to the far shelf. His catch totalled 59-15.

John Cosgrove (York) was third from peg seven with 44-0, John Chapman (Leeds) fourth with 36-5 from peg 22, and fellow Leeds rod-man Gareth Sellers fifth with 32-12.

The league was won by Oliver Hewitt with 97 points followed by Cosgrove on 90, Kozyra (88), Danny Scott (75) and Lee Varley (71).

Meanwhile, Selby Young Angling Club will be holding a supervised match at Langwith Lakes on Tuesday, April 3, for experienced anglers of both sexes aged between 11 and 19.

Participants must register by completing the required consent forms before the day.
