BARLBY Village Stores angler John Cyrowski added the Animals Hospitals Cup to his Tower Trophy triumph to cap a superb year.
In the final York & District Amalgamation of Anglers event of 2011, Cyrowski was a clear winner with a haul of 16lbs 5oz on the Donkey Woods stretch of the River Ouse.
Cyrowski’s haul included four bream, the best weighing in at 5lbs, plus a selection of roach and perch, caught with maggot and worm on feeder.
Second place went to York’s Dean Smith, who brought 9lbs to the scales, which included two bream, caught using the same method as the winner.
Tackle2U’s Andy Jaques claimed third place with his catch of 5lbs 14oz, which included a bream weighing 4lbs.
A 5lbs 12oz net earned Selby’s Stu Thompson fourth place.
The section winners were J Cooper (peg 6, 3lbs 10oz) for pegs 1-12, A Malham (peg 21, 5oz) for pegs 13-24, D Thompson (peg 35, 4lbs 8oz) for pegs 25 to 36, and R Gaunt (peg 38, 1lb 9oz) for pegs 37 to 47.
Amalgamation fixture secretary Terry Pinder said weights were generally poor as, although the river level was up, the water was clear. “If there had been a bit of colour, it would have fished a bit better,” he said.
The York & District Winter League now takes centre stage, with the latest fixture being held on the Donkey Woods, Fulford and Palace Ings stretches of the Ouse on Sunday.

Laybourne Lakes (Marley pool, pegs one to 12, 37 to 51): Huntington WMC AC.
