NIGEL CROWL came out on top in the Shepherds Angling Club match on Marley’s pool at the York & District Amalgamation of Anglers’ Laybourne Lakes complex near Hessay.
The fish were not feeding well until late in the afternoon when Crowl managed to tempt them with dead red maggot fished over groundbait.
Fishing near the end of the island, he accumulated carp to 9lb in his winning weight of 111lb.
Second was Pete Mills, fishing on the point of the island with a weight of 89lb 6oz caught on banded pellet alternated with dead maggot.
Third with 81lb 2oz was Ian Hardcastle.
