Match organiser Cliff Dawson found catfood to the carps’ liking in the York Midweeker at Raker Lakes, taking a winning haul of 70lb 4oz off peg 16 on the Horseshoe with the 13-metre pole.

Second place fell to Tony Stephenson with 63lb from peg 30.

Norton’s Terry Tierney carried on his good run of form, winning Tuesday’s G B Angling Club match on the main lake at Lambwath Fishery with a net of 61lb. Utilising the method feeder in conjunction with banded pellet, he took an all-carp catch.

Fellow Norton angler Phil Roberts had to wait until the final couple of hours before the carp moved onto his feeder line, but when they did he rattled out 33lb 8oz to secure second spot.

Tony Mellor slaughtered the opposition in Friday’s Contemptibles match at Rosedale Fishery, weighing in five times more than his nearest rival.

Floating the pole at 16 metres with banded pellet up in the water, he took 12 carp up to the 6lb mark from peg 20 to end the day with 46lb 3oz.

Nigel Hargreaves was best of the rest with 8lb 10oz from peg 22.
