ANGLERS World ace Stan Haigh won the second round of the Acomb Tackle-sponsored York Winter League on the River Ouse.

Haigh, stationed at the bottom peg at Palace Ings, weighed in with 7lb 6oz, including a bream, a skimmer and some roach.

Selby’s Paul Howdle was second with 7lb 2oz, including two bream from his peg at Donkey Woods.

Third place went to Anglers World rod Tony Stephenson, whose net of 4lb 9oz from Bridge Field featured one bream and one skimmer.

Also at Bridge Field was fourth-placed Dave Hardy, of Barlby Village Stores, whose four skimmers bulked a tally of 4lb 6oz.

Fifth place went to Selby’s Paul Issatt, also drawn at Bridge Field. His 3lb 15oz included a bream.

The team event was won by Selby Shipyard, with a combined weight of 15lb 2oz, ahead of second-placed Anglers World with 12lb 3oz.

The Raker Lakes Wheldrake Open, on Horseshoe Lake, was won by JT Rogers angler Dave Wright with an all-carp 46lb 2oz from peg one.

Wright fished up in the water using bread punch and feeding casters little and often.

Leeds anglers filled the remainder of the top six, with John Chapman second from peg ten with 32lb 10oz, also all carp.

Chapman caught at 16 metres, fishing on the slope to the far bank with soft pellet on hook feeding caster via pole pot.
