JACK BRYAN and Pete Webster were the winners at the latest York & District Amalgamation of Anglers’ veterans’ match at Laybourne Lakes.

Bryan took the honours in the over-70s category with a catch of 26lb 12oz from peg 50 on Marley Pool.

R Dockerty was second at peg 52 with 23lb 6oz.

Webster triumphed in the under-70s section.

He put 24lb on the scales to finish ahead of D Carr, whose net came to 17lb 6oz.

The contest attracted a field of 19 anglers.

Meanwhile, the amalgamation’s Championship of the Yorkshire Ouse takes centre stage on Sunday.

The match is held on all waters above York, except Red House, plus Donkey Woods, Fulford and Palace Ings.

The draw will be made at St Clement’s WMC at 8.30am.

The Tower Trophy is held on the River Ouse the following Sunday on Donkey Woods, Fulford and Palace Ings.
