Betty Norman, a long-serving member of the York and District Table Tennis Association, has died after a long illness.
She represented York Ladies more than 50 times and was ladies’ singles champion in 1998 and 1999.
A winner of the doubles crown six times, she was coaching secretary from 1978 to 1987 and development officer for eight years. She was president of the Association from 1996 until her death.
John Parrish also died recently. He won the men’s singles in 1970, won the mixed doubles for four successive years and helped Terry’s to the division one and division three championships as well as representing York more than 50 times.
