Table Tennis: Hodgson and Lowe trounce RI ‘A’ rivals

Coneysthorpe ‘A’ thrashed title rivals RI ‘A’ 9-1 in division one of the Northern Power Grid York and District Table Tennis League.

Martin Lowe and Ashley Hodgson were undefeated in a fine display by Coneysthorpe.

John Farmery struck top form, not dropping a game as Holgate ‘A’ overcame Crescent ‘B’ 7-3.

RI ‘E’ have jumped up to second place in division two after an 8-2 win over BT ‘A’, with Rich Church and Mark Blackburn unbeaten.

Bootham ‘B’ are close behind in third after a 7-3 win over Tramways, who bounced back with an 8-2 thumping of BT ‘A’, with Dave Hough leading the way.

The three Johns – Eastwood, Freeman and Flintoft – helped Crescent ‘C’ whitewash Holgate WMC ‘E’, while a top performance from Rich Harrison led Bootham ‘C’ to a narrow win over CE Electric.

Division three leaders Shepherds ‘C’ were disappointed to drop three points to a two-man Aviva ‘A’ side, while third-placed University ‘B’ received a setback as they went down to BT ‘B’ in a tight affair, Jim Stevenson doing well.

Nigel Baker is a man in good form, but he was unable to prevent bottom club Shepherds ‘D’ going down 6-4 to Holgate ‘E’.
