There was a shock result in division one of the CE Electric York and District Table Tennis League.
Individual champion and York number one Richard Moss went down to his first defeat of the season, at the hands of talented youngster James Atkins of Shepherds ‘A’.
Atkins won 11-8 in the final game, though RI ‘A’ won the match 9-1.
Martin Lowe and Ashley Hodgson were unbeaten as they ensured a 9-1 success for Coneysthorpe ‘A’ over their ‘B’ team, which puts them top.
There was a notable win for RI ‘D’, their first of the season, over RI ‘C’, with Filip Wojtkowiak guiding his side to a 6-4 victory.
Graham Hatfield was the key man as Holgate ‘A’ edged out Bootham ‘A’, including an 11-9 final game success over Jon Wooldridge.
Division two pace-setters University ‘A’ whitewashed Bootham ‘B’, Senri O’Hara, Rudy Huang and Anders Hammarback the winning trio. RI ‘E’ enjoyed a decisive 9-1 win over CE Electric, with Mark Blackburn and Rich Church the star men.
RI ‘F’ shot to the top of division three, with two emphatic wins.
Ivan Guilliat was undefeated, in both – a 7-3 conquest of BT ‘B’, and then a whitewash over Shepherds ‘D’, where Richard Leafe and Dom Ainger also excelled. Aviva ‘A’ beat Holgate ‘E’ 6-4.
Bootham ‘F’ beat Hartrigg Oaks 7-3 in division four, with Keith Stott and Jan Suchecki on top.
Unbeaten Steve Pearson and Trevor Percival helped Thornton-le-Clay to thump Aviva ‘B’ 7-3.
