Sessions ‘A’ continue to lead division one of the NEDL York and District Table Tennis League, but they were given a tough match by Railway ‘A’.
Despite three singles wins from Richard Moss, who did not drop a game, they needed a narrow doubles success to triumph 7-3.
The gap has been closed to one point however as Coneysthorpe ‘A’ overcame Shepherds ‘A’ 8-2, thanks to Martin Lowe and Ashley Hodgson.
Alf Potter was in top form as he helped Holgate ‘B’ to a 7-3 win over Shepherds ‘A’, and they did well to hold Coneysthorpe ‘B’ to a draw despite being a man down. Martin Hood was in great form.
Bootham ‘A’ are fighting against the drop and they pulled off a good 7-3 win at bottom club Railway ‘B’ with Jo Suchecki in control.
The derby at Railway saw the ‘A’ team whitewash the ‘B’ team.
John Farmery led the way as Holgate ‘A’ edged out University ‘A’ 6-4.
Bootham ‘B’, who have been awarded nine points by an appeals panel, are second in division two after whitewashing NEDL/Bootham.
Holgate ‘D’ are fighting a relegation battle and their cause was not helped by fielding a depleted team as they were thumped 9-1 by Sessions ‘B’. They dropped into the bottom two after Shepherds ‘B’ produced their best result so far, toppling promotion-chasing Holgate ‘C’ 6-4.
Pete Corner is still unbeaten this season, and he led Bootham ‘E’ to a 6-4 win over Sessions ‘C’ in division four.
Pete Taylor turned in a terrific performance when undefeated against league leaders, Railway ‘F’, including a doubles success, though his Sessions ‘C’ team were narrowly beaten.
