Coneysthorpe ‘A’ are champions of Northern Powergrid York & District Table Tennis League division one for the fourth successive year.

Ashley Hodgson and Joel Wright sealed a 9-1 win over Bootham ‘A’.

Although Paul Robertson led nearest rivals RI ‘A’ to a narrow victory over Coneysthorpe ‘B’ and a 7-3 success at home to Bootham ‘A’, that could not prevent the Ryedale outfit securing the crown.

Bootham ‘A’ bounced back with a 7-3 win over Coneysthorpe ‘B’, Jon Wooldridge and Jimmy Mills impressing. However, they crashed 8-2 to Holgate ‘A’, Aidan Ranftler and Graham Hatfield too good.

Hatfield was again in top form to win his three singles at RI ‘B’, and assist in a doubles success which earned a fine victory.

Anders Hammarback proved more than a match for Holgate ‘A’, but his University ‘A’ side went down to a 6-4 defeat.

However, those points were valuable as Crescent ‘B’ were whitewashed by RI ‘B’, and they are one point above University ‘A’ at the bottom.

RI ‘C’ are division two champions after a hard-earned win over a two-man Tramways, whose Mike Robinson claimed the scalp of Rich McCarthy in four games.

Matt Roberts, aged 14, playing up from division three for RI ‘C’, underlined his progress with a win over Terry Nicholson.

The title fight in division three looks like going to the wire after the top two sides registered 8-2 successes.

Reigning champions Shepherds ‘D’ overcame a two-man Bootham ‘E’, though there was a good win for Matt Ayres over Mick Surtees.

Holgate ‘C’s Bob Young replaced Surtees at the top of the averages after a terrific display against Holgate ‘D’, not dropping a game. Graham Hood and Rob Farmery joined Young in a 10-0 romp over RI ‘H’.

The top two sides clash in the final game of the season which looks certain to be a title decider.

Holgate ‘D’ piled the pressure on RI ‘H’ after a creditable draw with BT ‘B’, though Jim Stevenson proved too strong. But he met his match in Steve Long as BT ‘B’ went down 8-2 to Bootham ‘F’.
