THE York Family Tennis Tournament – first held 30 years ago – will be staged at Rowntree Park for the last time in May.
The competition is winding up due to dwindling entry levels – although organisers are appealing for a bumper field for the final event.
The format sees fathers and mothers competing with their sons and daughters in men’s and women’s doubles, alongside mixed doubles and husband and wife doubles categories.
Tournament secretary Kathryn Maude said: “We have decided this will be the final year because of lower entries, but now we need to ensure it goes out with a bang. We hope players from the past will come along and support us as players or spectators and make it a great family event.”
The tournament will be held on Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5. Entries can be made by phoning John Linfoot on 01904 470754 or 07710 107766.
