AFTER just two rounds in the York Conservative Clubs’ Carlsberg UK Snooker League only Heworth ‘B’ have a 100 per cent record to lead with ten points.

Heworth ‘B’ hammered Acomb ‘B’ 6-1 to record their second victory with successes by Brian Birch, Mark Calpin, Darren Colledge, Nick Hodgson, Chris Thompson and Keith Watkinson. Andy Stone replied for Acomb.

Fulford ‘A’ surprised defending champions Malton as they triumphed 5-2.

Tim Lister, Tom Wilson, Justin Morris and Simon England won the game before Roger Ward gained a point for Malton. James Lee (25 break) made it five for Fulford before Simon Weatherill secured the last frame for Malton with a 52 break.

Fulford ‘B’ beat Bootham ‘A’ 5-2 with wins by Bob Smith, Alan Reed, Roger Gibson, Jim Rollinson and Tom Wilson. Brendan Ledgeway (24 bk) and Tim Fillingham won for Bootham.

Acomb ‘A’ also upset the form book by defeating Heworth ‘A’ 4-3. Their winners were Barry Manson, Richard Lillie (21 bk), Levan Brady and Gary Robinson. Mark Winskill, Neil Wood (37, 27 bks) and Clive Whyte replied.

Defending champions Fulford suffered an unexpected 6-1 defeat by Bootham in the Conservative Clubs’ Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League.

Bootham went 2-0 ahead before C Simpson and J Stephenson claimed Fulford’s sole point. Bootham took the remaining three games and earned the aggregate for a 6-1 victory.

Bootham ‘B’ claimed their first win in the York Conservative Clubs’ Faber Shields Billiards League when they recovered from 3-2 down to defeat Acomb 4-3 by way of the aggregate point.

Keith Myers, Ian Gillies and Adrian Barraclough won for Acomb against replies by Lionel Barnes and Ian Robinson.

Tim Fillingham (20, 22 unfinished breaks) secured the win for Bootham with his victory gaining the aggregate point.

Bootham ‘A’ surprised champions Heworth by beating them 5-2.

Gary Rogers (20, 21, 30, 34, 44, 45 bks) and Jason Milner moved Heworth ahead after John Woodall’s comfortable first game success for Bootham.

Colin Robinson (21, 25 bks), John Darley (with an 81 point defeat of Mark Winskill) and Barry Rankin (44 bk) earned Bootham the win.
