New Earswick Swimming Club’s 18-strong team amassed six gold medals, two silver and five bronze medals from the Jorvik Graded Meet at the Edmond Wilson Pool.

In the boys’ 15 and over age group Lance Talmadge, who was competing in his first ASA gala, took two gold medals in the 50 metres backstroke and 50m breaststroke, recording personal best times in both.

In the same age group Dan Richards took gold in the 50m front crawl also in a pb time. He also gained a silver in the 200m front crawl.

In the girls’ 13/14 age group, Amy Taylor won two gold medals in the 100m Individual medley and the 50m backstoke. She also reeled in three bronze medals for the 50m butterfly, 50m front crawl and 200m front crawl. All five times were personal bests.

In the same age group Darianne Helstrip took gold in the 50m butterfly with a best ever time, while Melissa Harrison gained bronze in the 50m breaststroke, also clocking a pb.

In the girls’ 11/12 age group, Georgia Taylor took bronze in the 50m backstroke with a pb.

Harrison Rishworth took silver in the boys’ 9/10 age group 50m front crawl.

Medals went to the top eight swimmers up to the 13/14 age group.

Medal winners were: Sarah Graves 50m breaststroke and 200m front crawl; Darriane Helstrip 50m backstroke, 50m front crawl; Harrison Rishworth 50m breaststroke and 50m fly; Daniel Hynes 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke; Jamie Cameron 50m backstroke; Mathew Graves 100m IM.

Other swimmers with pb times included: Gemma Oliver 50m backstroke; Katie Procter 50m backstroke; Steph Woodford 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 50m crawl; Ellie Mosey 50m breaststroke and 50m front crawl; Beth Taylor 50m backstroke and 50m front crawl; Jack Taylor 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 50m crawl; Ben King 50m backstroke.
