STRENSALL swimmer James Wilby gets his Commonwealth Games under way today - going for glory in the 200 metres breaststroke in front of a packed Glasgow crowd.
The 20-year-old City of York Baths Club star has a busy few days ahead at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre - also competing in the 50m and 100m breaststroke - but he begins with his favoured event this morning in the first session in the pool.
He will hope to return this evening for the event's final.
Wilby is one of four North Yorkshire representatives at the games, with Harrogate's Jack Laugher and Oliver Dingley having to wait a week before their diving programmes under way.
York's Jessica Taylor starts in the heptathlon on July 29.
