A TEN-STRONG York City Baths Club swimming team bagged an impressive haul of 34 medals at the Yorkshire Open Masters Championships in Scarborough.

Emma Wills led the way with five individual gold medals in the 50 metres and 100m backstroke, 100m and 200m freestyle, and the 200m individual medley.

Wills joined up with team-mates Cheryl Midgley, Mandy Aitken, Carol Brown and Michelle Jenks to win further gold medals in the women’s medley and freestyle relays.

Other individual gold medals were won by Oliver Simpson (50m and 100m breaststroke), Scott Brown (50m and 200m freestyle), Colin Campbell (50m butterfly), Duncan Brown (100m IM, 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle), Aitken (100m IM), Chris Holmes (50m backstroke) and Brown (50m backstroke and 50m freestyle).

The team achieved a further nine silver and five bronze medals.
