YORK City Baths Club’s James Wilby rounded off a superb British Gas Swimming Championships in Sheffield with a 23rd place finish in the 100 metres breaststroke.
The 19-year-old Strensall swimmer registered two new life-time best performances at Ponds Forge – 29.61 seconds in the 50m breaststroke and two minutes 15.72 seconds in the 200m event.
He was unable to add a third in his final swim of the five-day meet, clocking one minute 4.43 seconds in the 100m – just outside his personal best of one minute 3.8 seconds.
Wilby, who missed out on a place in the semi-finals of the 100m, was ranked 24th overall in the 50m and was placed ninth in the 200m after reaching the semi-finals.
