SEEDS ruled in all but one of the quarter-finals in the York Ladies Squash Open championship played at the David Lloyd Centre.
The big upset was in the night’s toughest tussle, where sixth-seeded Rachel Buckingham ousted Andrea Mayne, the number three seed.
Buckingham convincingly took the first game 9-3, but Mayne countered hard to level with a 10-8 success.
However, despite Mayne’s experience, her opponent’s agility and speed around the court underpinned successive 9-3 wins for a 3-1 triumph.
Teenager Poppie Jaram (seeded four) beat Traci Moore (5). She took the first two games 9-4, 9-5 before Moore won the third 9-4. The 13-year-old Jaram notched the fourth 9-3 for a 3-1 win.
Number two seed Natalie Cain ousted Sarah Broadhurst (7) 3-0, a score matched by top seed Nicki Horn at the expense of Sarah England (8).
The finals will be at Dunnington Sports Club tomorrow at 7.30pm.
