Malton ‘A’ wrap up 13th win of Carlsberg UK Snooker League campaign
The win saw the Ryedale side complete an unbeaten run in the second half of the season, and a total of 13 victories from their 16 matches.
Dominic Spiteri, Simon Weatherill (37 break) and Lee Taylor set Malton on the road to victory before Mike Walsh replied for Fulford.
Captain Phil Hart completed the victory, but Tim Lister and Alan Reed won their frames to make the scoreline more respectable for Fulford.
The teams shared the first four games, with Gary Robinson and Richard Lillie successful for Acomb and Adam Scaife and Mark Winskill (46 break) for Heworth.
Keith Thornhill (39 break), Adrian Barraclough and Paul Holmes completed the victory for Acomb.
Heworth ‘B’ replaced their ‘A’ team in third place after defeating Acomb ‘B’ 5-2.
Acomb went 2-0 ahead through Kevin Ventress and Brian Henry, but Darren Colledge, Keith Watkinson, Brian Birch, Mark Calpin and Huw Faircliffe decided the match for Heworth.
Fulford ‘B’ completed a 4-3 double over Bootham ‘A’, but still finished in bottom spot.
Fulford’s Andy Hurley won the first frame, but Chris Dower (31 break) and Mark Darley (22 break) moved Bootham ahead.
Bob Smith, Nigel Smith and Andy Warriner (27 break) sealed Fulford’s win, but Barry Rankin (25 break) won the crucial last frame.
That meant they did not exchange places with bottom-placed Fulford ‘B’.
Acomb’s Holmes and Malton’s Taylor finished the season as joint Willsden Steel Players of the Year with only two defeats in their 16 matches.
Malton’s Weatherill was runner-up with three defeats in 16 matches.
With only the Team Cup final to play, between Heworth ‘B’ and Fulford ‘B’, Heworth’s Neil Wood is the leader in the Pasema Paving Highest Break contest with a 72 break.
Taylor, of Malton, is in second place in the standings with a run of 67.
