Heworth’S Neil Wood is in the hunt for a tenth York Conservative Clubs’ Scruton Cup Snooker Knockout success.
The nine-times winner will take on Malton’s Lee Taylor in the last eight this month before facing either Malton’s Roger Ward or Fulford’s Mike Walsh in the semi-finals.
The final will be held in March.
Bootham 1 are aiming for a hat-trick of wins, and their fourth crown in five years, in the Ted Plant Team Snooker Pairs Knockout.
The holders face Heworth 1 in the semi-finals, while 2006 and 2007 winners Bootham 2 take on Heworth 2 in the other last four tie.
Fulford’s Bob Smith is three wins away from a third success in the Brian Jeffrey Over-50s Snooker Memorial Trophy. He won the competition in 2007 and 2009. Geoff Robinson, the 1998 winner, is also in the last eight.
Meanwhile, three-time winner Colin Robinson, of Bootham, is aiming for a fourth Hylton Foster Billiards Knockout title. In the quarter-finals he faces Acomb’s Ken Bowser, who toppled holder Tim Lister in round one.
