HEWORTH ‘A’ held on to lead position in the York Conservative Clubs’ Carlsberg UK Snooker League despite losing 5-2 to Acomb ‘A’, their second defeat in three matches, writes Colin Robinson.
Keith Thornhill (33 break) and Barry Manson, who inflicted the first defeat of the campaign on Kevin Gall, gave Acomb a start only for Jason Milner and Neil Wood to level.
Phil Carlton (21 break), Gary Robinson (29 break) and Paul Holmes wrapped up the victory.
Malton ‘A’ recovered from 3-2 down to beat bottom-placed Fulford ‘A’ and they are now only one behind the leaders.
Dominic Spiteri and Darren Dawson moved Malton ahead after Tim Lister (35 break) had won the first game.
Mike Walsh (31, 38 breaks) and Sam Wass gave Fulford a chance, but Phil Hart and Simon Weatherill (36 break) secured the match at 4-3 for Malton.
