Fulford topple Heworth to go top of billiards league

Fulford replaced Heworth as leaders by beating Bootham ‘B’ 5-2 in the York Conservative Clubs’ Faber Shield Billiards League.

Tim Lister (23) gave them a 56-point aggregate lead in the first game only for Tony Lambert to level.

Terry Ward (43), Richard Stroughair (30) and Alan Reed completed the win before Alf Appleby gained Bootham’s second point.

Bootham ‘A’ had a close win over Acomb but, despite winning four of the six games, they failed to gain the aggregate.

Dan Pringle, Nick Parker and John Darley put Bootham 3-0 ahead then Ian Gillies crushed Ken Taylor by 93 points.

Colin Robinson (32) came from behind to win by two points against John Ashwell (21) to make it 4-1.

Adrian Barraclough (30) held on to defeat Barry Rankin (27) and ensure that Acomb held the aggregate, but Bootham ‘A’ had won 4-3.
