Heworth ‘A took advantage of Fulford ‘B’ having a free week to consolidate their lead in the York Conservative Clubs’ Carlsberg UK Snooker League with a 5-2 win over Heworth ‘B’.
Adam Scaife and Jason Milner gave them a head start before Andy Ogley pulled one back by beating Mark Winskil.
Tim Hart and Neil Wood then won the match before Mark Calpin gained the ‘B’ team’s second point.
Clive Whyte completed the victory on the black.
Acomb ‘A’ held on to third spot despite going down 4-3 to Malton ‘A’. Nick Dyson (24bk) held on to beat Mark Harrison (22) only for Richard Lillie to level.
Tim Foggin, Roger Ward and Craig Mead sealed the win before Gary Robinson (25, 22) and Phil Carlton defeated David Coulthard and Simon Weatherill.
Fulford ‘A’ maintained their run with a come back from 2-0 down to win 5-2 against Bootham ‘B’.
Bootham’s Paul Mahoney and Chris Grainger opened the scoring only for Mike Walsh, Simon England, Jeff Brown, James Lee and Tim Lister, with an 86 break, the season’s highest, to decide the match.
Bootham ‘A’ won their first match of the season with a 4-3 result against Acomb ‘B’.
The winners were Brendan Ledgeway, Colin Robinson, Simon Robinson (24) and Mark Darley with replies by Kevan Ventress (25), John Ashwell and Andy Stone.
Leaders Bootham maintained their three-point lead despite a dramatic finish to their match with Heworth in the Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League.
John Sherlock/Colin Richardson gave Heworth a 40-point opening aggregate advantage and they then went 2-0 up. Bootham fought back to lead 3-2 and reduce the aggregate deficit to six points.
However, Heworth levelled and secured the aggregate by ten points to win the match 4-3.
Fulford beat Acomb 4-3.
Leaders Heworth won 4-3 against Bootham ‘A’, who were a player short.
Brian Birch gave them a start but John Darley beat Kenny Rogers (75, 47) by 19 points to level. Jason Milner (26, 25) restored the lead only for Colin Robinson (35) to level again. Steve Burdett (38, 20, 26) and a walkover by Keith Watkinson sealed the win but Bootham earned the aggregate point.
Bottom team Acomb surprised second-placed Fulford as they only dropped ten points in a 6-2 resounding victory.
