SUE Lowery (140, 121) and Carole Layne (2 x 100) kept Clifton in the hunt against York John Smith’s Ladies League division one visitors Cueball ‘B’.
The teams were tied 3-3 entering the pairs.
Tracey Farmeary and Bev Harton edged the snooker club in front before Lynne Clapham and Jayne Janes secured victory. Nicky Esders and Gina Brodie added to the winning margin for Cueball.
Marj Pearson played a captain’s innings for Burnholme, closing on 97 for 21 as the club side ran out 6-3 victors at Ox. Dawn Scott was a double-ton scorer for the club team.
Division two standard-bearers Flag ‘B’ were stung by visitors Beeswing, who put in a five-game winning run to move to within three points of their opponents.
Severus are keeping tabs on the top two with a 7-2 demolition of Shepherd ‘B’, with Davina Shannon starring.
Seahorse ‘A’ won by the same 7-2 margin as Jackie Coverdale and Diane Armer were the only victors for Tramway ‘B’.
Tramways ‘A’ could only manage one more point than their ‘B’ team as Woolpack, well-led by their captain Doreen England, secured a fine result.
In division three, Sonya Love guided Red Lion to a 7-2 win against visitors St Paul’s, whose Amanda Bevan checked 69.
Lisa Wyhard and Julie Huckle secured victory for Beagle by the meanest margin at Jubilee.
Acomb were gifted the points as Shoulder could not field a team, while Walnut Tree gained points as Sun failed to show or contact Tree.
All other league matches have been deferred until February.
Teams should note the drawn pairs competition on February 16 is being cancelled to allow teams to play postponed matches.
