DEFENDING champions Malton started the new York Conservative Club’s Carlsberg UK Snooker League season with a 6-1 thrashing of Bootham ‘B’.
Craig Mead, Dave Coulthard, Roger Ward and Simon Weatherill (20 break) secured the win before Tony Lambert put Bootham ‘B’ on the board.
Phil Hart (24) and Tim Foggin completed the victory.
Fulford ‘A’ went 3-1 ahead of Heworth with wins by Tim Lister (41), Justin Morris and James Lee against a reply by Neil Wood (37).
Steve Burdett (23, 27) beat Richard Stroughair to start the comeback. Clive Whyte made a 48 break to level the match, then Mark Winskill (23) held off Mike Walsh to earn Heworth a 4-3 win.
Heworth ‘B’ won 4-3 against Fulford ‘B’, while Acomb ‘B’ embarrassed their ‘A’ team with a 4-3 victory.
Their winners were Keith Myers, Ken Bowser, John Ashwell and Eric Leatt.
