MICK BORG maintained his 100 per cent winning record in the York Carlsberg UK Conservative Clubs’ Snooker League.

The Acomb ‘A’ anchorman made it four in a row as he defeated Andi Ireland in his side’s 5-2 win at Heworth ‘B’. Dan Pollard, playing in his first game for Acomb, made a 44 break as Richard Lillie, Keith Thornhill and Paul Holmes also racked up victories.

Pete Rivis (37 break) and M Johnson replied for Heworth.

Acomb ‘B’ lost 5-2 at home to Malton despite getting off to a good start. They were 2-1 ahead after John Winter and Jeff Kean won - Dominic Spiteri replying - but Malton then took over as Lee Taylor, Dan Pawson, Steve Beal and captain Phil Hart completed the win.

Jim Lee got Fulford ‘A’ off to a great start with a 42 break but had to fight hard against Bootham ‘A’s Mark Darley. The latter just failed to win, jumping the white over the brown, with all the remaining colours all pottable.

Bootham fought back, taking the next two frames on the black as Tim Fillingham edged out Andy Marshall and Barry Rankin beat Sam Parkinson in a tense match.

Tom Lewis, Sam Wass, Jamie Husband and Sam England struck, however, as Fulford recorded a 5-2 win.

Fulford ‘B’ soon found themselves 2-0 down as Paul Scorfield, with a 34 break, and Ian Robinson won for Bootham ‘B’. Bob Smith replied for Fulford but P Powell hit back for Bootham.

Jim Rollinson, 37 break, and Nigel Smith then levelled the match before Lionel Barnes secured a 4-3 result for Bootham.

Acomb ‘A’ and Fulford ‘A’ lead the league with 17 points, followed by Heworth ‘A’ and Malton, both with 14 points, but with a game in hand over the top two.
