ACOMB ‘A’ are closing in on their tenth straight division one title in the York Acomb Wednesday Night Pool League.

The leaders are 15 points clear of Winning Post with only four games remaining, while they are also through to the semi-finals of the team knockout competition.

Dick Turpin are third, only one point behind the second placed team.

It is still all to play for at the bottom as Lysander Arms and Acomb ‘I’ are only six points clear of the relegation-threatened The Beagle and ten points clear of bottom team Bay Horse Fulford.

The top three places in the player of the season rankings are taken up by Acomb ‘A’ players. Simon Newby leads the way from last year’s winner Graham Worcester, with 28 wins from 32 frames.

With three games to go, division two leaders Holgate WMC have all but secured promotion to the top flight as they lie ten points clear of third place with a game in hand.

Battling for second place are Loop ‘B’ and The Mitre, while Loop ‘C’ have a chance with two games in hand on third place and only four points to make up.

Leading the way in the individual rankings with 22 wins from 28 frames is Dan Gration.

In division three, Cottage Inn ‘A’ lead the way and look set for promotion. They are seven points clear with a game in hand on Pack of Cards ‘B’.

Rooted to the foot of the table are Bay Horse Fulford ‘B’.

At the top of the player rankings, Joe Moore and David Crowther share first place with 24 wins from 32.
