Martial arts is alive and kicking in Stamford Bridge.
A batch of 27 students from East York Tae Kwon-Do took part in the Stamford Bridge-based club’s first-ever grading session – and they all passed.
The students, aged from five to 45, came up to scratch as they were put through their paces by Master Kenny Walton, an eighth Dan black belt from Brighouse.
The club was established last May by former British champion Gavin Cook, a second Dan black belt, and has rapidly grown in size. Members now train four times a week.
“It’s great that the kids are learning about respect and self-control while keeping fit,” said Cook.
Howard Cambridge passed grading along with his two children, with Cook saying that proves tae kwon-do can be a sport for all the family.
The club, a member of the Tae Kwon-Do Association of Great Britain, hold training sessions on Mondays and Fridays at Stamford Bridge village hall.
