ESTABLISHED in his new Chok Dee Academy, York’s former Thai-boxing world champion Richard Cadden is anticipating an even more successful 2012.
The Academy, which moved into its new purpose-built premises at the York Business Park in Poppleton just five weeks ago, staged its annual awards at which Danny Harrison-Little was named the fighter of the year.
Cadden reported how Harrison-Little was among a stable of promising gladiators, who had tallied an 85 per cent success rate from 2011 action.
Said the Chok Dee chief: “Out of the 14 bouts we had this year, we had 11 wins, two losses and one non-contest. That puts us up on the previous year when the success rate was 80 per cent.”
Other award winners included Matt Reading (hardest worker) and Kev Taylor (clubman of the year) and, together with Harrison-Little and the duo of Dan Mullarkey and Charlie Garforth, represent a healthy future for Chok Dee.
“Even though we were only in the new venue for five weeks we were nominated as combat gym of the year in a national magazine’s awards, so that was also a fine achievement,” said Cadden.
