A TRIO of fighters have been making their mark on the Thai boxing scene thanks to help from a former world champion.

Danny Harrison-Little, Mathew Reading and Cain Harris, who all attend Rich Cadden’s Chokdee gym in Nether Poppleton, won fights on a Calder-Thai Boxing bill in Halifax.

Harrison-Little fought Manchester-based Darren Gibson, winning on points over three rounds at the 67kg weight division, while Reading, fighting at 73kg, was giving away eight kilograms of weight in his points decision against Dewsbury’s Courtney White.

Harris, in a junior contest against Harry Dobson, also got a decision verdict.

Cadden said: “Mathew was giving away a massive weight advantage and Courtney was just looking to come forward.

“Mat fought off the back foot and scored well in the face of a really aggressive opponent. Cain is a big stocky lad and he has only been with us about four or five months. He put in some really good knees.”

Cadden added of the three triumphs: “We got a really good presence and some of the coaches came up to us afterwards and were pleased with the way our guys handled themselves and their aggression.

“It was beautiful to watch. Danny and Mat are now fighting on a show in Leeds on April 13 and tickets are available at the gym if anyone wants to see these two in action.”
