ACOMB arrows ace Chris Thompson beat former World Championship semi-finalist Dennis Smith 6-1 at the Spanish Darts Trophy in Benidorm.

After that preliminary round success, Thompson went on to defeat Ignacio Basullas by the same scoreline before being defeated by Jerry Hendricks.

In the Spanish Darts Classic Players Championship, the Ainsty player lost 6-1 to reigning 2011 world youth champion Arron Monk.

Whitwell-on-the-Hill’s Terry Temple bowed out in the first round of both tournaments, going down 6-3 to world number three James Wade and 6-4 against 2011 BDO World Championship finalist Dean Winstanley.
