Sophie Simpson and Carol Perrett, with three tons apiece, helped as they took home a 6-3 win.

Anne Bass gamed in 21 arrows which included 125,100 for Lions.

Second-placed Tramways were inspired by Roz Kerr, who hit three tons as they went one better than their rivals beating visitors Bootham Club 7-2.

Karen Hodgson won the opener for Clifton at Cueball ‘B’, who took the next four games before Lynn Richford pulled one back.

However, Clifton had to wait until the final game to register another point.

Flag had a clean sweep in the singles, Jo and Jean West completing the match-winning run before Burnholme got on the scoresheet winning the remaining games.

Division two front-runners Cueball ‘A’ had captain Linda Welch leading the way as they proved too strong for Acomb ‘B’, whose Amanda Harris and Viv Netherwood were their point scorers.

Shelagh Kenny closed 110 with a bull checkout. However, she could not prevent Burton taking home a 5-4 result, Linda Embleton (2 x 100) and Dawn Barker securing the points.

Lisa Gatenby and Sammy Endersby sealed the same winning margin and a first win of the season for visitors Acomb ‘A’ at Severus ‘A’.

Palace had victory secured as Louise Iceton gave them a 5-0 lead over visitors Beeswing, whose captain Julie Judson broke their duck but it was too little too late.

Division three leaders Edinburgh Arms recovered from a 2-0 deficit at Swan to take home a 6-3 victory.

Woolpack broke their duck as captain Doreen England was joined by Vicky McClaren to snatch victory in the final leg against visitors Shepherd ‘B’.

Shepherd ‘A’ fared better than their ‘B’ team with a resounding 6-3 result against visitors Leeman ‘A’.
