CAROLE Layne and Jo Hodges shone as they hit a 17-dart pairs leg in Tramways’ win against York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one opponents Slipper to keep themselves in second place behind Walnut Tree.

Tree were tied 3-3 at Flag going into the pairs, but the visitors put in a fine performance winning the remaining legs for a 6-3 triumph.

Dawn Exton gamed 20 with a two-dart 60 closure in her singles, then joined Anne Bass in the deciding pairs to secure victory by the smallest margin against Cueball ‘B’, whose Natalie Farmeary starred.

Ox ‘A’ also left it late as captain Tracey Watkinson, partnering Beryl Thornham, snatched a late winner against visitors Clifton, who had double-ton scorers in Kerry Gray, Karen Hodgson and Liz Richford.

Burnholme’s Caroline Whittaker led the way as they beat Bootham Club 6-3.

Division two front-runners Cueball ‘A’ had Beckie Stevens gaming 22 and Linda Welch closing 84 as Ox ‘B’ were saved from a whitewash by Janice Green.

Sharon Mountain and Nikki Judson were Beeswing’s match-winning pairs at Acomb ‘B’, whose Debbie Pollard closed on bull to set up the decider in the pairs with Viv Netherwood.

Captain Linda Embleton was ably assisted by Angie Blackmore as they sealed victory at Severus ‘A’, whose Glynnis Simpson hit the tons.

Leeman ‘B’ went home from Palace with a 6-3 result.

In division three, Jubilee hold pole position by one point after a close-fought win against visitors Shepherd ‘B’, captain Heather Bulmer combining with Julie Oliver to seal victory.

Edinburgh Arms cleaned up in the pairs to leave Woolpack with a resounding 7-2 result.

Second-placed Severus ‘B’ won by the same margin at Leeman ‘A’.

Alice Turgoose and Judy Williams secured Sun their first win of the season at Shepherd ‘A’.

Turpin’s success in the pairs beat visitors Swan, whose Kathy Evans hit a 140.
