Darts: Tramways toppled by Cueball

REIGNING champions Tramways were shot down by Cueball ‘B’ in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Tracey Farmeary fired a 21-dart leg and Lynne Clapham hit a 24-darter, before taking part in a 23-dart pairs leg with Natalie Farmeary.

That secured a hard-fought 5-4 win for Cueball against a Tramways side which had Carole Layne and Roz Kerr hitting three tons apiece.

Sandra Bruce top-scored for Walnut Tree in their win over Burnholme, who were two players light.

Karen Hodgson led the way as Clifton were prevented from a full house by Bootham Club pair Jane Barnes and Jackie Calpin.

Five Lions had final pair Anne Bass and Jill Reed securing a win at Ox ‘A’. Michelle Britton hit two 140s and a ton for Five Lions.

Slipper made home advantage count against Flag despite being a player down, with Elaine Metcalfe and Doreen Johnstone sealing victory by the meanest margin.

In division two, Cueball ‘A’ secured victory within the singles at Beeswing. Joyce Kayne was Wing’s lone singles success, while Sharon Mountain and Vicky Sellers doubled their score.

Yvette Shepherd inspired Palace to a 6-3 win at Severus ‘A’, while Acomb ‘B’ beat their ‘A’ team by the same margin thanks to a 23-dart pairs leg from captain Mary Thomas and Vicki Rhodes.

Burton Club pair Sandra Pallister and Jean Wright sealed a win over visitors Ox ‘B’, whose Nicola Johnson hit the tons.

In division three, Edinburgh Arms beat visitors Severus ‘B’ 5-4. Amanda Bevan (140, 125) and Donna Lynes sealed the win.

Sun let slip a 4-2 lead as they lost to visitors Leeman ‘A’, whose captain Peggy Rose closed 97 in the first pairs to inspire her team.

Jubilee secured victory in the singles at Swan, while Shepherd ‘A’ cleared up in the pairs for a 6-3 win against their ‘B’ team.
