PAUL Cooper's dazzling display for Cygnet A' was not enough to unsettle York Phoenix Monday League table-toppers Ebor.

He gamed in a tremendous 12 darts in the division one encounter. He hit a team game maximum then added another 180 but lost his opening singles leg in 21 to Tony Raymond.

He then hit scores of 140, 121, 100 and a superb 140 finish, but Cooper's 12-dart effort was all in vain as Cygnet A' lost 7-2.

Ebor's Mark Hartley was in outstanding form with a 180 for 14 and closed on 17 to defeat Pete Leake. Arthur Conyers also did well for Ebor with a brace of 21 darters.

Acomb A' took the first five legs at Sun Inn with Heath Scaife notching a 180 for 16 then adding a 17, while Mark Mason had a 15-darter.

Sun took the last two games with Chris Thompson (180 for 16) plus a 137 finish for 15 and Tony Cooper (180) with 17. Paul Botterill also hit a maximum for Acomb A'.

Mitre's Neil Long made it 3-3 at Cygnet B' to allow Steve Simpson to clinch victory after Kevin O'Hara's 180 for 19 and 20 and Russ Greaves' 180. Dave Gibbons also hit a 180 for Cygnet.

Division two leaders Edward VII's Owen Legg (21) was their match winner against Mount A' who had a 110 finish from Dawn Exton and 20 from Dave Binks.

Steve Burton, of Britannia (Tadcaster), prevented a Falcon whitewash as Chris Wilson hit a maximum and Col Gibson closed in 22.

Holgate WMC had Arthur Caple (17 and 22), Gaz Stewart (22), and Derrick Hudson (19) all hitting maximums as they defeated Slipper 6-3.

In division three, Yearsley A' team's Phil Good gamed on 150 and Dan Tait hit his first-ever 180 as they defeated Sun Inn 6-3. Sun also had a maximum from Matt Kitchen.

Carole Layne was Flag B' team's only point taker against Phoenix, while Yearsley B' were 7-2 winners against York City Social Club.

Teams are reminded that points will be lost if result sheets are not with the league secretary by noon on the Thursday following the match.
