Final pairing dig deep to secure John Smith’s Ladies Darts League victory for Tiger


VISITORS Tiger came away from Clifton with a hard-fought 5-4 win in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Clifton’s Carole Layne closed 90 and Jo Hodges scored well, but Tiger’s final pairing Ruth Howden and Caz Broadberry snatched victory with a ton checkout.

Jayne Janes closed 114 for a 21-dart leg and Tracey Farmeary scored three tons as leaders Cueball ‘B’ edged past Slipper.

Slip ‘B’ narrowly beat Burnholme, with Babs Harrison and Sandra Winters sealing victory.

Maggie Tottie guided Ox to a 6-3 win against visitors Slip ‘A’.

Division two leaders Beeswing hit back from 4-2 adrift to beat Tap.

Jane Barnes hit the tons for Flag ‘B’ in a 5-4 victory over Tramways ‘B’, while Tramways ‘A’ lost by the same score against Severus.

Vicky Edwards and Sharon Nelson steered Woolpack to a 6-3 win over Shepherd ‘A’, who had led 3-0.

Shepherd ‘B’ lost 6-3 to Seahorse ‘A’, who had Dot Sellars closing treble 20 double 16 and Michelle Kelly hitting the tons.

Cueball ‘A’s Faye Hawksby, Kath Fairclough and Joan Hunter gave them a 3-0 advantage against Burton WMC and they managed to hang on for victory.

In division three, St Paul’s raced into a 5-0 lead at Sun. Dorothy Barker broke Sun’s duck before Saints captain Chris Lamb and Janet Netherwood made it 8-3.

Leeman ‘A’ beat Shoulder 7-2 and leaders Seahorse ‘B’ won by the same margin against Leeman ‘B’. Alison Walker (120, 100) led the way.

Julie Oliver and Heather Bulmer sealed a last-game win for Jubilee against visitors Acomb ‘B’.

Red Lion took a 4-2 lead against visitors Swan, but they lost 7-4.

Beagle’s final pair of Caz Finch and Amanda Kirby secured victory at Walnut Tree.
