Cueball ‘B’ edge to win over Burnholme in John Smith’s Ladies Darts League


York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one front-runners Cueball ‘B’ struggled against an under-strength Burnholme.

Snooker club captain Tracey Farmeary gamed 22 as they took a 4-2 advantage into the pairs. Farmeary was joined by in-form Bev Harton to seal victory.

Burnholme won the remaining legs for a respectable 5-4 defeat.

Second-placed Slip ‘B’ made up ground with a 6-3 victory against the ‘A’ team, Roz Kerr hitting a maximum.

Tiger roared in the final two legs after Anita Adams had levelled 3-3 for Slipper then daughter Vicky Middleton partnered captain Doreen Johnstone to edge Slipper in front.

Jill Hopkins and Claire Frank set up the decider, which Tiger pairing Gill Wilson and Ruth Howden won.

Cygnet raced into a 3-0 lead against Acomb who won the next three. Vicky Crowe levelled before Tina Lane and Muriel Britton, then Dawn Exton and Britton secured match points.

Ox put in a stunning performance with Tracy Bruce leading the way as Flag ‘A’ fell 7-2, despite some top scoring from Sarah Jackson.

Flag ‘B’ are finding the second half of the season tough. Division two rivals Shepherd ‘B’ had captain Jacky Sargeant closing with a two-dart 68 in her singles then 52 in the pairs with Janine Cartwright. Colleagues Jenny Barron and Joan Tee secured match points.

Tap are gaining ground as they cleared up in the pairs to defeat visitors Cueball ‘A’ 6-3.

Leaders Beeswing were stung as rivals Tramways ‘B’ recovered from a 4-2 deficit to win all the pairs. Jackie Coverdale, partnering granddaughter Hayley Benton, secured victory.

Seahorse ‘A’ beat visitors Tramways ‘A’ by the same margin with a clean sheet in the pairs.

Burton WMC beat Woolpack, while Shepherd ‘A’s final pair of Maggie Beddingham and Chris Peebles snatched victory at Severus.

Division three leaders St Paul’s had victory at Beagle secured in the singles and added to their tally with two successes in the pairs.

Seahorse ‘B’, well led by captain Kerry-Ann Gray (140, 132, 100), were victorious at Shoulder.

Kayleigh Thomas closed 64 as Acomb ‘B’ made home advantage count to fell Walnut Tree 6-3.

Jubilee’s match winners were captain Heather Bulmer and Louise Warren against Leeman ‘A’.

Swan captain Kathy Evans closed 70 in the pairs with Shelagh Edmond to set up a decider against visitors Sun.
