Cueball sure-shot on mark to bring Flag fluttering to earth

Faye Hawksby closed on 85 for 24 which included 114, 100 as Cueball ‘A’ won their York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League duel at division two high-fliers Flag ‘B’ by the meanest margin.

Captain Audrey Carling partnered Emily Fairclough to seal the Cueball victory.

Woolpack quickly found themselves 3-0 down to visitors Seahorse ‘A’ .

But the home team found their range, taking the remaining legs to win 6-3.

Tramways ‘B’ held a 4-3 advantage at Shepherds ‘A’ , whose Anne Allinson and Catherine Higgins levelled before Emma Barker and Joyce Swainsbury secured the points.

Burton Club’s Joan Woods closed 97 to pull one game back as they quickly found themselves 1-1 adrift at leaders Beeswing, whose Vicky Sellers, then the pairing of Chris Hayward and Emma Wright put the result beyond the club side’s reach.

Carol Robson’s 21 included two tons as Severus beat Tap 6-3.

Debbie Forster and Kylie Carter inspired Tramways ‘A’ as Shepherd ‘B’ fell by the same margin.

Division one front-runners Cueball ‘B’ were prevented from a total clearance by Flag ‘A’s Jo West. For the club side, Jayne Janes closed 96 in the pairs with Nicky Esders, while captain Tracey Farmeary chipped in with 140, 100.

Slip ‘B’ cleaned up in the pairs to halt Tiger after the sides had been tied at 3-3.

Slip ‘A’s Carol Price scored a maximum and Flo Crampton won a lone-handed pairs to set up a decider at Acomb, whose Sammie Endersby and Laura Gatenby secured match points.

Toni Smallwood hit the tons for Burnholme, but a good recovery from down saw Cygnet wrap up the remaining games for a 6-3 win.
