LORD Nelson fired the first salvoes in the York White Rose Ladies Darts League winter season.

They travelled to Flag and Whistle and negotiated stern opposition to win the division one duel 4-3.

Lord Nelson took the four-hand with Vikki Coy checking out on 109, only for Flag to capture the first pairs through Toni Smallwood (100) and Tamara Ferguson.

The pairing of Chris Hedley (105) and Dot Jackson (105) went down to Joan Cuss (105) before Coy and Ferguson restored parity.

Smallwood (100) finished in 20 darts to make it 3-2, but Cuss (100), then Vicki Finney, took the last two for Nelson.

It was nip and tuck too at King William, who entertained newly-promoted New Earswick.

Earswick took the first game and then Sue Smith and Janet Curry made it two to Earswick After an ebb and flow in superiority Margaret Clapham, then Janice Turton made it 4-2 to Earswick.

Hosts Acomb Sports beat Crescent ‘A’ 5-2 in division two.

Julie Bond scored a 101 in her pairs game with Astrid Tute, and joined by Barbara O’Donnell, established an unassailable 5-1 lead before Milly Mountain replied.

Derwent came back from a deficit to Flag and Whistle ‘B’ to seal triumph through Nikki Judson and Claire Rowsby.
